The Kansas Department of Corrections recently promoted three Hutchinson Correctional Facility employees to the rank of Corrections Supervisor I.
The promotions included Jonathan Gillespie, effective Nov. 29, and Victor Kuhns and Scott Hambrick, both effective Dec. 13.
The Kansas Department of Transportation recognized employees celebrating state service anniversaries in January.
Employees from the area who were recognized included: 40 years: Michael Hollis, Highway Maintenance Supervisor, Rolla; 10 years: Michelle Burnett, Area Engineer, Ellinwood; James Cedeno, Equipment Operator, Lyons; Jamie Davis, Equipment Operator, Scott City; and Raul Flores, Equipment Operator, Moscow
GREAT BEND – The new dentist at Heart of Kansas Family Health Care was looking for a clinic where he could use his skills while concentrating on patient-centered care and treatment.
Wonsik Jung, DDS, recently began seeing patients of all ages at the Great Bend Heart of Kansas location, 1905 19th.
“After being here for several weeks now, I realize that my choice to come to Heart of Kansas was excellent,” Dr. Jung said. “I can focus on each patient with time to give clear and detailed explanations about treatment and answer their questions.
Dr. Jung’s experience includes fillings, root canals, crowns, bridges, complete and partial dentures, simple surgical extractions, sealants, cleaning, and deep cleaning.
Stormy Newell, a registered dental hygienist, assists Dr. Jung.
A native of South Korea, Dr. Jung earned a bachelor’s degree in biological sciences at the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2007. His post-bachelor program in chemistry was completed at State University of New York, Stony Brook in 2011. He then earned his doctor of dental surgery in 2019 at Howard University College of Dentistry in Washington, D.C.
Dr. Jung’s most recent position was at Dental Dreams in Philadelphia, Pa. Memberships include the American Dental Association and Academy of General Dentistry.
Heart of Kansas Family Health Care is a Federally Qualified Health Center, which allows it to be a safety net for patients who are uninsured or underinsured. Its professional providers also welcome those with insurance at the Great Bend, Larned and Stafford locations.
Hutchinson Regional Healthcare System Chief Operating Officer Richard W. “Wes” Hoyt, FACHE, has been appointed to the Council of Regents, the legislative body of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE).
The council serves as the vital link between ACHE and members by approving governance and membership regulations as well as promoting the organization’s programs, services and activities within their respective areas.
Hoyt is Board Certified in healthcare management as an ACHE Fellow since 2005 and has been a member of the organization since 2001. In 2019, Hoyt was a recipient of the ACHE Senior Rural Executive Regent’s Award.
He will assume office on March 20, before ACHE’s 64th Congress on Healthcare Leadership. As a Regent, he will represent ACHE’s more than 450 members throughout Kansas.
Hoyt has served as the Chief Operating Officer at Hutchinson Regional Healthcare System since 2016. Prior to his current position, he was an Army Medical Service Corps Officer, serving in assignments world-wide culminating with service in the U.S. Army Africa, in Vicenza, Italy. Throughout his career, he’s held numerous leadership roles, including assignments with Army combat support hospitals in Iraq.
Hoyt retired from the Army in 2016 after completing a more than 30-year career in the nation’s Armed Forces. He received a master’s degree in healthcare administration from Baylor University.
He is a board member of the Kansas Association of Healthcare Executives (KAHCE), currently serving as the Membership Committee Chairperson. In Hutchinson, Hoyt serves on the United Way of Reno County and Rotary Club Boards of Director; Chamber of Commerce Economic Development Advisory Committee, and the Sleep Tight Foundation. In January 2021 Hoyt will join the Hutchinson/Reno County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.
