If we’re ever going to have self-driving cars, they will need to be able to talk wirelessly to one another and to roadside monitoring infrastructure, like traffic signals.

Such technology has been around but has failed to take hold. Now Qualcomm is out to prove the effectiveness of its version of the technology called Cellular Vehicle to Everything, or C-V2X.

The San Diego Union-Tribune’s technology reporter Mike Freeman joins Midday Edition on Monday to discuss the pilot project.
